Tequila Smith is an award-winning engineering professional with over 20 years experience in the utility industry. An inspiring, driven, results oriented leader with a passion for delivering sustainable and ESG solutions. A highly motivated team builder with a developed analytical skill set and strong financial acumen. Her background includes hands-on senior leadership involvement in helping industrial companies engage on issues of sustainability at both corporate and community levels.

Tequila has been active in the civic, philanthropic and leadership development arenas, applying her knowledge, experience,  and expertise toward improving the community.

In January 2021, Smith was named one of the “Women Who Shape the State” by Alabama Media Group and its affiliate,  This is Alabama. The annual award spotlights women who are making a difference in the state across a broad spectrum of fields and missions.

Smith was named to the Birmingham Business Journal’s 2020 list of “Women to Watch” – a select roster of women who  are making an impact in the Birmingham business world. Honorees were selected based on career accomplishments and  contributions to their organizations, as well as future leadership potential.

Tequila has been married to her husband Mark for 22 years. They have two children, Makayla and MJ.
